Corporate Contractors Inc Partners with Lincoln Avenue Communities to Build The View at Huxley Yards Affordable Housing Complex

March 26, 2024

MADISON, WI: Corporate Contractors Inc (CCI), a leading general contracting firm in southern Wisconsin, is thrilled to share that it has partnered with Lincoln Avenue Communities (LAC) to construct a six-story affordable housing complex in Madison, WI. As noted by LAC, The View at Huxley Yards project, together with The Victoria, a neighboring senior housing project, will mark the largest ground-up affordable housing development ever undertaken in the state.

The View at Huxley Yards project is situated on the site of the Oscar Mayer plant, which ceased operations in 2017 after nearly a century of service. It will feature 303 family-oriented apartments ranging from 1 to 4 bedrooms, along with numerous amenities including an inviting pool area, serene courtyard, engaging community classroom, state-of-the-art fitness center, and spacious dog run. With abundant active play areas and green space for family activities, the project will also preserve the existing wetland areas. A six-story parking garage will also be constructed to provide 462 vehicle (10 EV) and 394 bicycle parking stalls along with a bicycle repair/pump station. Anticipated completion is set for the Spring of 2026.

“We are honored and excited to join forces with LAC for the development of The View at Huxley Yards project,” remarked Kevin Day, CCI’s VP of Business Development. “We truly value the trust LAC has placed in our team, and we appreciate the support we have received from the Madison community.”

With material costs at record levels, CCI collaborated closely with LAC, JLA Architects, and other consultants in the preconstruction phase to assess various components of the structure and finishes, as well as the mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems for alternatives. The innovative value engineering solutions played a key role in developing a design and budget that aligned with the project’s goals.

Additional key members of the build-team currently include County Materials, Dave Jones, Dynamic Construction & Materials, Mid-States Concrete, and Van Ert Electrical. As the project progresses, a strong emphasis will be placed on collaborating with additional local contractors and vendors throughout each phase of construction.

This project not only marks a significant milestone for LAC and the Madison community, it also helps address the long-standing gap in affordable housing units while striving for Wisconsin Green Built Certification with eco-friendly features like rooftop solar systems. The City of Madison, along with key supporters including the Wisconsin Housing and Economic Development Authority (WHEDA), the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation, and the National Equity Fund, Inc., are also playing vital roles in its success.
