CCI NewsWire: Hendricks Center For The Arts

Located in downtown Beloit and originally constructed in 1931, this three-story building initially served as a United States Post Office and later as the Beloit Public Library. Now, once again, the building has been given a new life, this time becoming the centralized home of Beloit College’s theatre, dance and music programs.

The design and renovation of the 48,000-square-foot arts center was a challenge, as the facility had to be architecturally appealing as well as functionally specialized for acoustics, lighting and dance performance surfaces. Each area had specific acoustical shapes and materials, sound isolation from one space to another, and performance requirements, thus requiring unique construction methods.
