Construction Begins on Mass Timber Development in Delafield
CCI Partners with Hendricks Commercial Properties to Construct “The Grain” Mass Timber Project
DELAFIELD, Wisconsin (February 2, 2022) – Hendricks Commercial Properties today announced construction on the city’s first mass timber development at 705 Genesee in downtown Delafield, Wisconsin, has commenced and a suite of renderings for the $25 million development have been released.
Designed by architecture firm Johnson Designs, Inc., The Grain will feature 60,000 square feet of office space, 18,000 square feet of retail and restaurant space, and 125 parking spaces, including 42,000 square feet of underground parking, completely transforming the vacant one-acre corner lot in the middle of downtown, and providing the Delafield area with a one-of-a-kind product. CCI, Corporate Contractors, Inc., will construct each of the two buildings slated for the site.
Mass timber is a state-of-the-art construction method that is revolutionizing the way many companies construct their properties. It combines solid wood panels and beams to create a structure that is exceptionally stable and versatile. It is an environmentally friendly, low-carbon alternative to concrete and steel. The exterior will have a timeless design that represents how buildings used to be constructed, but the structure and interior finishes will represent the future of modern day construction. By leaving columns and ceilings exposed it will create an open and refined space for tenants that will be more desirable than a typical office or retail space.
“The Grain is situated on a prime corner in downtown Delafield.” said Rob Gerbitz, CEO of Hendricks Commercial Properties. “We believe this project and the way it’s being constructed is really going to fill a void and continue to make this community a prime live, work and play destination.”
