Engineering and Construction Academy
Hendricks CareerTek hosts a successful Engineering and Construction Academy
The hands-on experience gave youth ages 12-15 in the Greater Beloit area an opportunity to both design and construct several picnic tables and planter boxes that were later donated to the City of Beloit Fire Department and the Waterworks Division. Guided by CCI and HCP experts, the youth had the opportunity to first learn about and apply engineering and architectural principles then bring their designs to life using safe construction techniques. Likewise, participants also toured two project sites that were in different phases of completion within the Ironworks Campus. The 20 youth participants engaged in basic skills like measuring, safety, teamwork, tool identification and usage along with basic principles of blue print reading.
We’re not certian who enjoyed this event more … the adults or the youth! The kids certainly did a fantastic job!
