The View at Huxley Yards Affordable Housing Complex

Madison, WI: CCI partnered with Lincoln Avenue Communities (LAC) to construct a six-story affordable housing complex in Madison, WI. The View at Huxley Yards project, together with The Victoria, a neighboring senior housing project, will mark the largest ground-up affordable housing development ever undertaken in the state.

The View at Huxley Yards project is situated on the site of the Oscar Mayer plant, which ceased operations in 2017 after nearly a century of service. Designed by JLA Architects, it will feature 303 family-oriented apartments ranging from 1 to 4 bedrooms, along with numerous amenities including an inviting pool area, serene courtyard, engaging community classroom, state-of-the-art fitness center, and spacious dog run. With abundant active play areas and green space for family activities, the project will also preserve the existing wetland areas. A six-story parking garage will also be constructed to provide 462 vehicle (10 EV) and 394 bicycle parking stalls along with a bicycle repair/pump station. Anticipated completion is set for the Spring of 2026.

This project not only marks a significant milestone for LAC and the Madison community, it also helps address the long-standing gap in affordable housing units while striving for Wisconsin Green Built Certification with eco-friendly features like rooftop solar systems. The City of Madison, along with key supporters including the Wisconsin Housing and Economic Development Authority (WHEDA), the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation, and the National Equity Fund, Inc., are also playing vital roles in its success.
