The Associated Builders and Contractors of Wisconsin held their annual Projects of Distinction Construction Excellence banquet last night in the Wisconsin Dells. Corporate Contractors Inc. was recognized for its work on the downtown Beloit, Geronimo Hospitality projects –  Hotel Goodwin | Velvet Buffalo Cafe as well as truk’t | Blue Collar Coffee.

ABC’s POD awards program recognizes the most distinct construction projects throughout Wisconsin. An independent panel of judges evaluates all entries and winning projects are based on eight criteria: craftsmanship, execution/coordination, budget, scheduling, difficult and unusual challenges, owner/architect satisfaction, safety, and overall distinctiveness.

The Hotel Goodwin | Velvet Buffalo Cafe project received gold

A 1920’s professional building was meticulously transformed into an award-winning 34-room boutique hotel with roof-top terrace and elegant in-hotel restaurant and wine bar. The Hotel Goodwin| Velvet Buffalo Cafe adaptive reuse project required flexibility and superior contracting skills to overcome unexpected obstacles and tight completion deadline.

The truk’t | Blue Collar Coffee project received silver

Creative thinking, collaboration, and attention to detail helped a downtown Beloit dilapidated former bar in a run-down building become two distinct restaurants. Truk’t is a worldly street taco, whiskey, and tequila restaurant and across the corridor is Blue Collar Coffee, a cozy vintage industrial coffee shop. Meeting schedule, safety and quality goals despite unexpected challenges, the project created unique and alluring downtown destinations.
